CoolSculpting Pre/Post Treatment Instructions

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive fat-reduction treatment that works by freezing stubborn fat cells, which your body then naturally eliminates over time. While the procedure itself is safe and straightforward, proper pre- and post-care is essential for getting the best results and minimizing side effects.

Before Your Treatment

    • If you take any medications that could thin the blood and increase bruising (Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Vitamin E…) and can safely stop taking them, please do so as this will minimize possible bruising.

Treatment Day

    • Wear comfortable and loose clothing, some patients bring socks, a blanket, sweatshirt, sweatpants so that they do not get cold while laying still during the treatment.
    • The treatment room has a TV with a selection of movies to choose from but you may also bring a book, laptop, iPad or anything else that will keep you entertained during your treatment.

After Your Treatment

    • Immediately after the treatment, the treated area will be pink/red and some evidence of bruising may be immediately visible. The pinkness will subside over the first several hours after treatment.
    • Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur in the treated area. This typically resolves within a week or two.
    • Nausea, tingling, stinging and cramping in the treatment area are possible on treatment day.
    • You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation or itching sensitivity in the treated area.
    • Numbness at the site is common, resolving in 1-3 weeks.
    • It is common for the treated to feel bloated and to look swollen for the first 3 weeks after treatment. Compression tights such as yoga pants or Spanx may feel good to wear during this period.
    • Please contact Total Med Solutions 214-987-9200 if these conditions persist beyond 3 weeks or worsen over time.
    • Many patients have minimal discomfort following the procedure and return back to their normal daily routine.
    • Avoid the use of anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, Naproxen and Celebrex for 6 weeks following treatment.
